Protein Data Bank (PDB) |
The Protein Data Bank is the single worldwide repository for the processing and distribution of 3-D biological macromolecular structure data. PDB works well with structural genomics, which is the main focus of the Joint Center for Structural Genomics (JCSG), by working to ensure the continued timely collection and dissemination of high quality structure data.
Structural genomics is a worldwide initiative aimed at determining a large number of protein structures in a high throughput mode. Protein targets range from all open reading frames which encode genes present in the genomes of a variety of organisms, to specific biochemical pathways, to proteins associated with specific disease states.
