TM0613

  • Deposition Date: 2003/03/28
  • Description: Nucleotide binding domain (HEPN) of the two-protein nucleotidyl transferase complex
  • Solution Method: X-RAY
  • Start: 1 End: 123 Sequence Type: Complete
  • Fold Function: Nucleotide binding
  • Fold Summary: Class: all alpha. Four-helical up-and-down bundle. Core: 4 helices; bundle, left-handed twist.
  • Fold Description: Provided the first structura template for Pfam families PF05168 (HEPN domain) and PF01953 (protein of unknown function DUF103). Another protein from the same family was solved later. Nucleotidyl transferase (by structure analysis), strong homology to multiple hypothetical proteins in bacteria and archea. Forms a functional complex with TM0614 (prediction based on structure analysis). Three pairs of paralogs in Thermotoga maritima (TM0613/614, TM1000/1001 and TM0648/649). Unexpected structural similarity to a domain in kanamycin resistance protein; not predicted using any public fold prediction programs, probably because of extremely low sequence identity (~8%). Distantly homologous to an uncharacterized domain in human protein sacsin, that is involved in hereditary neurological disorder.
